  Delta Govt. urges vulnerable persons to register for affordable health scheme Health By Clara Egbogota The Delta State Contributory Health Scheme (DSCHC) has urged vulnerable persons to register for the ongoing affordable health insurance scheme for a quality health care. Dr Isaac Akpoveta, Director General of the scheme, made the appeal during the registration of 295 vulnerable persons on Friday in Asaba. Akpoveta said that an indigent required N7,000 to register for the scheme to access quality health care in a health facility of his choice for a year. According to the DG, the 295 persons being registered today are sponsored by his family because of the passion for better health care services to the people. “With an insurance card, they will receive quality healthcare services from any facility of their choice for one year. “With this, we have enrolled over two million residents of Delta State with over 7 million encounters since inception of the scheme about eight years ago,” ...

 LASG trains 60 engineers on bridge construction  Training By Aderonke Ojediran Lagos, June 20, 2024 (NAN) The Office of Infrastructure, Lagos State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure on Thursday began training of no fewer than 60 engineers on bridge construction.   The three-day training  is taking place  at the Public Service Staff Development Centre, Magodo, Lagos State.     The training, with the theme: “Bridge Building: From Theory to Practice”, will focus on practical application of knowledge. It is aimed at enhancing the skills and expertise of engineers in bridge and road constructions. The event which began on Friday at  White Stone, Oregon, Ikeja, was organised in partnership with Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts  and Culture. No fewer that 200 vendors participated at the sixth edition of the fair tagged “Buy, Sell, Network”. Sallah: FRSC deploys 654 personnel in Delta

  By Clara Egbogota  The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Delta Command, has deployed 654 personnel including regular and special marshals to various locations in the state to ensure safety during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration. Mr Muftau Irekeola, Sector Commander, FRSC, said this on Friday in Asaba while addressing personnel of the command in preparation for the Eid-el-Kabir special patrol. Irekeola said that a total of 654 personnel, 19 operational vehicle, one ambulance, one power bike, and others would be deployed in the state. The sector commander, however, said that the command was partnering with private tow truck owners, saying that the command’s tow truck was not in good condition. “If it is more than 30 tons truck, we will call FRSC Onitsha command for towing because Onitsha is less than four kilometers away from Asaba,” he said.  2024 Hajj Pilgrims pray for Lagos State Lagos, June 5, 2024 (NAN) Lagos State pilgrims observing the 2024 Hajj exercise in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday acknowledged the gestures of the State leadership with fervent prayers in the Holy Land. The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Mr Ibrahim Layode, said this while addressing pilgrims on his arrival at Mekaah.
