Delta partners farmers’ foundation on food security, job creation

  Food By Ifeanyi Olannye Asaba, Oct. 15, 2024 (NAN) Delta Government said on Tuesday that it would partner with Green Revolution Farmers Feed the Nation Foundation (GRFFNF) to ensure food security and job creation in the state. The State Commissioners for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr Val Arenyeka, and his counterpart in Trade and Investment, Mr Samuel Oligida, gave the assurance when the group paid them a courtesy visit in Asaba. Both commissioners acknowledged that the foundation’s vision was in tune with the Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E. Agenda mantra. The agenda aims to create opportunities for all and to ensure food security and job creation for youths, women and persons living with disabilities (PWD’s). Delta Govt. commends FRSC special marshals’ efforts at saving lives Commendation   By Clara Egbogota   Asaba, Oct. 12, 2024 (NAN) The Deputy Governor of Delta State, Monday Onyeme, has commended the special marshals of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) for their effort in traffic management to and promoting road safety.   Onyeme said this on Saturday at the 2024 Special Marshal Zonal Conference and Commissioning of Special Marshals’ Secretariat in Asaba.   The theme of the conference was “Leveraging Technology for Improved Traffic Management and Enforcement:The FRSC Digitalised Approach”.   According to Onyeme, road crashes have reduced, but the numbers remain unacceptably high; therefore, commuters and transport unions must join hands in the awareness and prevention initiatives.   “There is still much more work to be done in terms of awareness, sensitisation and infrastructure to help mitigate this menace called traffic crashes on our roads.   “You...

The 2024 Customers Service week has as its theme: “Above and Beyond.” The Week is celebrated globally from Oct. 7 to Oct. 11. Traffickers By Clara Egbogota Asaba, Oct. 4, 2024 (NAN) The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) has expressed concern over the rising cases of trafficking in school-age children in Nigeria. Mrs Mojisola Sodeinde, centre’s Head, West African Region, said this on Friday in Asaba, during a two-day advocacy workshop in collaboration with the National Agency For The Prohibition Of Trafficking In Persons (NAPTIP). The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Centre is an inter-governmental organisation with headquarters in Vienna, Austria, with over 20 member states. The centre is implementing the: School Anti-Trafficking Education and Advocacy Project to address the escalating issue of human trafficking in Nigeria. Sodeinde, who was represented by Ms Rhoda Dia-Johnson, Project Manager, School Anti-trafficking Education and Advocacy Project (STEAP), said there was need for a unified front to fight the menace of t...
