Food Security: IFAD-LIFE-ND empowers 4,373 beneficiaries, begins new circle in Delta By Ifeanyi Olannye Asaba, Oct. 28, 2025(NAN) The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)-supported Livelihood Improvement and Family Enterprises in the Niger Delta (LIFE-ND) project, has in six years empowered 4,373 rural youths and women in agribusiness in Delta. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Federal Government and the IFAD had secured additional financing of 32 million dollars to expand LIFE-ND project across six states in the Niger Delta region targeting rural youths and women aged 18 to 35 years. Accordingly, LIFE-ND project haven completed its first phase of six-years, has secured additional financing targeting over 10,000 beneficiaries in the next three years in Delta. Obi Ifechukwude Okonjo II,  Obi of Ogwashi-Uku Kingdom in Aniocha South council  of Delta has  commended the indigene and residents  for the unity, peaceful and for massively attending this year’s Ineh festival. The Chief of Staff to the Monarch, Prince Onyema Okonjo, told newsmen on Friday at the Palace in Ogwashi-Uku while responding to the protest by a section of the community at Government House, Asaba on Thursday. He said that the protesters should rather commend the Obi for the peaceful and united festival celebration which they never had since 2007. He said that as an agrarian community, the festival marks the end of the farming calendar year and the beginning of a new year. At a rally with the theme, "National Unity Against Sabotage: Reclaiming Our Petroleum Sector for the People", the conveners noted that the rally was aimed at ending economic sabotage in Nigeria and to save Dangote refinery.
