Gov.Oborevwori tasks corps members on dedication towards Primary Assignment

Asaba, Aug.19, 2025 (NAN)  Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta has urged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted to the state to exhibit ‎dedication, excellence, and integrity towards their primary Assignment and service.

‎The governor gave the charge at the closing ceremony of Batch B Stream 1 Corp members at the NYSC Orientation Camp Issele-Uku on Tuesday.

Oborevwori represented by Mr Trakiriowei ThankGod, the state Commissioner for Youth Development, urged the corps members to Identify and implement projects that would address local needs.

‎He urged them to  serve with passion, humility and integrity to reflect the highest standard of service to leave a lasting positive impact in their host communities.

“We have engaged all stakeholders, communities, security agencies and employers, to ensure your well-being is prioritized.

‎“Additionally, we have encouraged the private sector and corps employers to support your efforts, particularly through sponsorship of community development service projects.

‎“These collaborative efforts will not only uplift communities, but also empower you to become agents of meaningful change,” he said.

‎Oborevwori promised that corps members who distinguished themselves through innovation, dedication and outstanding service would be celebrated.

‎He urged the corps members to put to use the entrepreneurial and leadership skills they acquired during their orientation course.

‎“Use them as tools to shape your future and contribute to national development. Nation building is a collective task that demands sacrifice, honesty, diligence and a resolute spirit.

‎“As ambassadors of unity and progress, let your service reflect these virtues.

‎“The orientation  has provided you with a platform to build camaraderie, foster unity, and reinforce the core values of patriotism, discipline, peaceful coexistence and national integration.

‎” I am pleased to note your active participation and high level of commitment you  demonstrated throughout the programme,” he added.

‎Mr  John Kwange, NYSC  Delta state Coordinator urged the corps members to accept their postings in good faith and integrate quickly into their host communities.

“We want you to contribute positively to their development.

“Respect their customs, traditions, and religious beliefs and strive to foster peaceful and harmonious relationships throughout your service year.

‎“In line with the NYSC’s commitment to support state development efforts, I encourage you to identify the felt needs of your host communities and initiate impactful community development projects.

“These projects will go a long way in improving the standard of living and fostering sustainable growth in those communities,” Kwange noted .

 

He urged the corps members to put to use the  skills they acquired through the in-camp Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.

“The initiatives were designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to be self-reliant, job creators, and future leaders,” he said.(NAN)
