Asaba, Nov. 6, 2025 (NAN) The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Delta State command, has urged everyone to work together to make thr road safer.

The State’s Sector Commander, Mrs Joyce Alexander, said this on Thursday at a Town Hall meeting for the 2025 Ember month campaign entitled, “Take Responsibility for Your Safety, Stop Distracted Driving.

According to her, as government, security agencies, transport unions, traditional rulers, community leaders, and citizens, we must make our roads safer for everyone.

“The Ember Months, as we know, come with increased travel, busy roads and unfortunately, a rise in road crashes.

“This year’s campaign theme:”Take Responsibility for Your Safety: Stop Distracted Driving,” is both simple and powerful.

“It reminds us that safety begins with you and me. Whether as a driver, passenger, or pedestrian, our choices on the road determine whether we arrive safely or not,” She said.

Speaking on the Asaba -Onitsha expressway repairs, the sector commander commended the government saying that is what the road users needed because of the heavy vehicular and human traffic as immediate palliative.

“I know that they can do it faster, so that with the heightened increase in vehicular and human traffic, we will be able to have vehicles moving without much gridlock,” she said.

Mr Onoriode Agofure ,Delta Commissioner for Transport represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr Victor Omoniyi, said the town hall meeting ws apt, coming at a time that there would be heavy vehicular movement on the highway.

“This town hall meeting is a welcome development because safety is everybody’s business, nobody would like to loose his or her love ones, everybody should be conscious and alert while driving,” he said. (NAN)nannews.com.ng.
