Gov. Oborevwori’s aide eulogises late ex-NAN staff, Mr Pius Oganah

Asaba, Oct. 31, 2025(NAN) Mr Olisa Ifeajika, the Executive Assistant to Delta  Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori on Public Enlightenment, Projects and Polices, on Friday showered encomiums on a former Staff of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr Pius Oganah.

NAN reports that Late Mr Oganah worked as a computer technologist and had retired in 2015 after 35 years of meritorious service in the Agency, a journey he started on Nov. 4, 1980.

Accordingly, Oganah, for his unwavering commitment to his duties earned a Long Service Award, as a recognition of his selfless and excellent contributions to the Agency and the society at large.

Oganah, hailed from Illah, Oshimili North Local Government Area (LGA) of Delta, he died on Aug. 21, 2025, aged 71 and was interred on Friday, October 31, 2025 at his compound in Illah.

Speaking in an interview with NAN at the funeral service of late Oganah, the Governor’s aide, Ifeajika, also a retired Deputy Director from NAN, said he met late Oganah in Benin, old Edo state and later  in Asaba office of the Agency.

Ifeajika said: “Mr Oganah was a staff member of NAN, I knew him wayback in Benin office in NAN before states were created and he, Oganah moved to NAN, Asaba office in Delta.

“Oganah was one of the pioneer staff of NAN in Asaba, Delta state. I later became the head of NAN in Asaba, so, I worked closer with him and I can say that Mr Oganah was very diligent and proficient as a professional in his computer work.

“Not just me, everybody that worked with him as supervisor and colleague were proud of him for his commitment, dedication and punctuality at work. He was there whenever you needed him and he would not complain about anything.

“Oganah was dependable, those who worked with him after I left being his supervisor in Asaba, had the same notion about him until he retired and in retirement, Oganah impacted many as a good Christian and the good person he was.

“He prayed for the repose of Oganah’s soul, adding that if he was still in NAN, one would have said that the Agency has missed a diligent worker.

“Even in retirement, Oganah had continued with his community, church work and impacting people, he would still be missed by many”.

On his part, Mr Samuel Oganah, the late Oganah’s first son, said it was rather not unfortunate as his father’s death was a call to glory.

According to him, his father led a good life even though he passed on at the age of 71 to be with the Lord on Aug. 21.

“My father is a peace loving person, a leader, a peace maker, loved by many people, he saw and he concurred. So, we have reasons to celebrate him today not to mourn him.

“Yes, to the world, 71 years might sound so young but for his fulfilment and achievements, he died successfully.and we had the belief that he had gone to be with the Lord,” he said.

Earlier in their sermon, Rev. Fr. Ezeuzo Ebuka and Rev. Fr. Joseph Adegwe at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Illah, lauded Oganah’s exemplary Christian life while urging other members to emulate.

Fr. Ebuka particularly reminded the congratulations that death awaits all the living, adding that everyone must endeavour to live a worthy live by supporting others as required of a good Christian; love, care and forgive one another.

NAN also reports that friends and associates were gathered to pay their last respect to late Oganah who was later interred in his compound at Illah.(NAN)

Also, NAN family in Asaba, led by Mr Ekio Benson Iziama were in attendance to honour a former family member, late Ngozi Pius Oganah. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng
