He said that the project aimed at empowering youths, women and persons with disabilities (PWDs) through agri-enterprise development in the state.

“Today marks another milestone in our commitment to youth empowerment, agribusiness development and rural transformation.

“We are here to welcome 1,020 young men and women selected across 10 local government areas, who will be trained and mentored in cassava production, oil palm processing, poultry and fish production and their value chains.

“This orientation is designed to introduce you to the LIFE-ND project, its expectations and opportunities while equipping you with the fundamentals of agribusiness and entrepreneurship.

“Our goal is not merely to help you to produce, but to enable you build sustainable business that generate in income, create jobs, strengthen food security and stimulate local economies”.

The commissioner thanked the Federal Government, International Funds for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Sheriff Oborevwori for supporting the transformational project that had impacted many lives in the state.

He acknowledged the reports on the projects achievements and charged the newly recruited incubatees to make the best use of the opportunity as partners in agricultural transformation in the state.

“I urge you to take this programme seriously, be disciplined, committed, innovative and ready to learn.

”Agriculture today is no longer merely a means of survival but a business, a source of wealth and a partway to economic prosperity,” Arenyeka said.

In his remarks, the National Project Coordinator, LIFE-ND, Dr Sanni Abiodun, represented by Mrs Anthonia Esenwah, Agribusiness Coordinator, commended the beneficiaries for being selected for the programme.

Abiodun said the orientation marked the beginning of a journey of skilled development, enterprise creation, employment and economic empowerment for the young men and women.

He also thanked all the stakeholders; federal and state governments, IFAD, NDDC, incubators, incubatees and others for their support without which, the project would not succeed.

According to him, the real measure of the project success is not the number of people who completed the orientation training but the number of sustainable businesses they will establish and the jobs and incomes they create.

“Our expectation is that when you complete this programme, you will have the knowledge, skills and confidence to establish and sustain profitable enterprises.

”We also expect you to create opportunities for others and become ambassadors of the LIFE-ND Project”.

Abiodun urged the state government to ensure payment of its 2026 counterpart funding, adding that the success and sustainablity of LIFE-ND Project depended on the commitment of all stakeholders.

Earlier, the State Project Coordinator, LIFE-ND, Mr Collins Ashoro, disclosed that 1,020 rural youths and women (incubatees) were selected across the 10 participating LGAs.
